My 2018 goals

Ahhh, the standard start of January blog post! I’ll be doing a recap shortly of how I got on with my 2017 goals, but in the meantime, here’s my 2018 goals. There’s nothing groundbreaking, so hopefully I should be able to stick to them all pretty well!

  1. Save money
I plan to use my new Kakeibo journal to track my spending and hopefully have a bigger savings pot at the end of 2018 than I do at the start of the year. Although, as my dishwasher has just packed up, this may be a bit tricky! The joys of being a homeowner!!
  2. Blog twice a week
This was a 2017 goal that didn’t happen, mainly because I was too sick of looking at screens come the evening after some long days at work. Hopefully that will change this year as I feel like I’m ready to get my blogging mojo back.
  3. Prioritise myself
Towards the end of 2017 I found myself working some crazy long hours, and then at weekends I packed them so full it left no time for me to just relax and recharge. In 2018 I want to get better at taking a lunch break, leaving work on time, and making more time for me. More yoga, more running, make better choices.
  4. Put the principals of my nutrition course into practice
I’m planning a separate series of of blog posts to go into this in more detail, but back in the autumn I went on a three part nutrition course and learnt so much. Then life got hectic and I spent a lot of winter 2017 eating frozen margherita pizza!
  5. Cook two new recipes a month
Another goal I had in 2017 that I didn’t end up doing very well at. However, I think I set too much pressure on myself to blog and take pictures of them all. If you don’t picture it, did it really happen? However, I’m going to put less pressure on myself this year and just worry about the cooking! I’ve already started well and made two new recipes on January 1!
  6. Overcome my injury and start running again
I don’t think I’ve really mentioned it much on my blog, but I’ve been suffering from plantar fasciitis since the end of May. It made running the Great North Run quite uncomfortable and I haven’t really run since then. I need to get the pain sorted so I can get back to the pavements.

So there’s my goals for 2018. As I said, nothing groundbreaking, just hopefully some simple life changes to make 2018 better than 2017.
