My top skincare picks

sample of skincare products

Over the past few months I’ve started to make a lot more effort with my skincare routine. Previously my morning skincare would be a bit of facewash while in the shower (usually from Lidl) followed by a splodge of moisturiser from Simple. My evening routine was just as simple – if I took my make up off I used Garnier micellar water and another splodge of Simple moisturiser. And to be honest, my skin showed just how little I took care of it. I was constantly breaking out in spots.

So I decided to make my skin look a bit better, I decided to treat myself to a few new skincare products. And after a few months of giving different things a go, here are a few of my favourites.

  1. Liz Earle cleanse and polish.
The holy grail in skincare for me. What more is there to say? I’ve been using Liz Earle products since I was 21 and it never fails to sort my skin out. This is now a non-negotiable in my bathroom. If I’ve had a bit of a break from skincare and my skin is having a break out I know I can rely on Liz Earle’s cleanse and polish to sort me out.
  2. Alpha H Liquid Gold Rose
IĀ got this as a small sample from the last Tili box. I love the tingling sensation on my skin, the rose smell (granny alert!) and how my skin feels when I wake up the next morning. This probably gets used a couple of nights a week.
  3. Erno Laszlo Double Cleansing Kit
Another Tili sample. To be honest I didn’t think I was going to get on with this as it seemed like a bit of a faff. But I absolutely love it and how it makes my skin feel. This is an evening or weekend treat for my skin.
  4. Garnier Micellar water
My Mum got me into micellar water and recommended I give it a go. This Garnier one is the one she uses and it’s pretty cheap to buy. Whilst this isn’t my only skincare product anymore, I do use it to remove mascara. And confession: on evenings where I really can’t be bothered, I at least just do this! Case in point – Saturday night after an all day cocktail fuelled hen do!
  5. Simple moisturiser
This is a bit of a ronseal product. A ‘simple’, no fuss, no fragrance, kind to my skin moisturiser that leaves my skin feeling moisturised but not claggy.
  6. NIOD Maustic Must
Once you get over the texture and smell of this, I’ve been really enjoying this. I’m really impressed at how it has left my skin. It makes my skin feel incredible cleansed and deep cleaned. I usually do this one morning at the weekend and try to give my skin a make up free day after using.

So what’s your skincare staples? I’d love to know what I’m missing out on.
