2017 highlights

I was a pretty bad blogger in 2017 and didn’t write on here much. Despite all of that, I wanted to share a few of my 2017 highlights with you all and some of the things I might not have shared on my blog.

In no particular order….

Cala Vinas Mallorca

A family holiday to Spain
Back at the end of May James and I headed to Mallorca with his family to celebrate his Mum and Dad’s 50th wedding anniversary. We had a fun filled week with plenty of beach time, loads of good food and drink, and lots of laughter.

Seeing one of my best friends get married
Earlier in May James and I headed down to Wales to be a bridesmaid and see one of my best friends, Fi, get married and become a Bond girl! We had a fab hen do up in Derby and the wedding weekend was really special. Next up is Pooks wedding in 2019!

A fab girly week away in Italy
In July Fi and I headed to Lake Garda for a week of sunshine, book reading and so, so, so much wine. We stayed in Bardolino and it was a lovely week away to relax and recharge. Read part one and part two of my week away.

Salzburg in December

Spending my birthday in Salzburg
James and I went to Salzburg in the middle of December for a long weekend full of mulled wine and Christmas markets. It was the most festive weekend and probably the best Christmas market I’ve been to. I’m planning a couple of posts about it later this month to share all my Sound of Music highlights!

Christmas day with James’ family
This year was my first Christmas not spent with my family. Instead we stayed local at James’ sister’s house. There were 15 of us in total on Christmas day and James’ sister and her husband did a fab job at hosting everyone and it was a really lovely day.

Girls night in

Growing a close circle of girly friends locally
I feel like this year I’ve really grown closer to some of my friends who live locally and it’s so nice to be able to go for girly days out, girly dinners, girly lunches, and girly everythings. It’s only taken me seven years!

Wallpaper stripping

Decorating our house
Despite getting started with the wallpaper stripping in 2016 (it was truly awful!) this year James and I decorated our bedroom, the spare room and we’ve almost finished our hallway. That’s a lot of plastering and even more paint samples. Plus, it turns out when it comes to decorating, I’m incredibly indecisive, no amount of pinterest can save me! Side note – there’s even more than fifty shades of grey when it comes to paint samples, who knew? I’m really pleased with how the upstairs is coming together. In 2018 I’m looking forward to getting the little bits finished off so we can get started on downstairs. Dark wood, coving, artex, picture rails – be gone!

I promise to try and be a better blogger in 2018….

Wallpaper is the worst! We’ve not finished all of our house yet either- I really want to tackle the dining room next but the hassle of stripping the wallpaper off and making more of a mess before you have even started decorating just puts me off.

Eurgh yes I know what you mean! That’s what’s putting me off doing our living room for the time being! Hope you get your dining room done this year!
